Artist’s Statement:
Pamela McKenna was born in Waterloo, Iowa and her exposure to art began early. Her Danish mother was always ahead of her time, incorporating unique styles, textures, shapes and colors into her home décor. Pam believes this eye for design was passed on to her as her mother enrolled her in numerous art workshops, always encouraging her to grow her creativity. She was also inspired by her elementary and high school teachers at the rural school she attended. Years later, these early experiences continue to influence her art and design as she teaches herself how to work with different mediums. Whatever the current art medium might be, Pam always strives to integrate the right elements, finding balance within each piece. Watercolor has always been her greatest love, but her other interests include screen-printing, inks, graphite, oils acrylics, fabric, paper, and mixed media. She also enjoys bringing art and design into her home décor, a passion undoubtedly inherited by her mother. In regards to her love for art Pam explains, “We can do what we want with huge passion and intricate detail – each piece becomes a special little work of art.”
